Job Description:_
The function of the Paralegal is to support the Managing Attorneys, department Attorneys and Associate General Counsel in various contractual and related legal matters including but not limited to negotiating business transactions, drafting contract provisions, performing legal research, database and file organization, meeting with representatives of internal business units, and various other activities as necessary to assist in providing in-house legal services to internal business units of Southern Company and its subsidiaries.
_Job Experience and Education_ :
Minimum of a Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal in a corporate legal department or outside law firm.
_Job Duties and Responsibilities_ :
Assist attorneys with negotiating, reviewing, drafting and revising contract provisions.
Perform legal and internet research.
Interface with representatives of internal business units and other companies.
Organize and maintain databases and files including contract templates.
OCR screening of foreign nationals and entities with whom we may do business.
Preparation of PowerPoint presentations.
Assist the department secretary on an as needed and occasional basis.
Occasionally assist in coordinating and planning schedules and activities of the attorneys.
Provide other assistance as may be needed for the orderly operation of the Department.
_Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes_ :
Legal research skills, particularly computer-based research, and business writing.
Strong computer skills and experience in Enterprise Solutions.
High ethical standards, professionalism and courtesy.
The Paralegal must work independently, with attorney guidance, and manage work priorities as well as support multiple attorneys and competing deadlines.
Strong sense of urgency and good follow-through.
Proactive and willing to take on new tasks.
Tolerant of and attentive to recurring/routine tasks.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
