Summary:
Maynard Nexsen Business Manager is a results-driven individual with strong interpersonal communication skills with a financial and managerial background.
This position serves as trusted advisor to Practice Group Leaders (PGL's) and Section Chairs (SC) in the strategic and day to day operations, administration and management of department initiatives to drive the strategic and profitable growth of the firm.
Essential Job Functions:
Practice Operations and Administration Assist PGL's and SC in managing the general daily administration and operations of the department and individual practice groups; including implementation of strategic business planning action items; meeting agendas, minutes, materials and correspondence.
Coordinate the oversight of the departments operations relating to its finance, human resource, facilities and systems functions.
Monitor practice groups attorney time reporting; analyze client workload reports; monitor billings and collections.
Prepare monthly performance reports, with appropriate analysis, and distribute to PGL's and SC.
Conduct meetings with department leadership to address administrative issues and provide status on department and group initiatives.
Prepare regular updates to SC and PGL's and drive follow-up meetings.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiencies across practice areas with continuous focus on operational efficiency improvement.
Monitor, evaluate, and recommend changes to administrative procedures and policies to enhance workflow and client service.
Responsible for the implementation and enforcement of procedures and policies for all team members.
Liaise with key administrative and operational teams on behalf of the department and practice groups.
Where appropriate, facilitate execution of Firm-wide initiatives at the practice group level.
Review and analyze group's financial performance, including attorney production and utilization, department and practice revenue, budgets and forecasting.
Develop and monitor annual revenue and expense budgets for each practice group.

Monitor Departmental inventory aging (Work In Progress and A/R), and collections.
Identify and escalate problems.
Maintain a consistent dialogue with billing attorneys and the billing and collections staff and work closely with billing attorneys to resolve issues, involving PGL's and SC as appropriate.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate with courtesy, diplomacy and discretion, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, Firm management, clients, staff and outside contacts.
Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills including record keeping, data collection and system information.
Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e-mail or verbally.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; CPA or M.

Relevant experience in a law firm is preferred.
Experience managing complex projects and teams, including the demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, and meet demanding deadlines Work Environment and Physical Demands:
