Systems Engineering Technician III

General SummaryThis position is responsible for performing varied tests that are not completely standardized and selects or adapts procedures or equipment using applicable precedents, scientific techniques and methods.
The Technician III receives initial instructions and training, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineers as needed.
Routine work is done independently.
Key ResponsibilitiesOthers may be added Perform assembly, test, and checkout of electromechanical devices that require adherence to strict standards andprocesses.
Make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the devices based on data analysis.
Set up test stations and maintain stations properly through calibration, preventative maintenance and repair.
Keep work area organized - apply 6S principles to assigned areas and actively assist lab supervisor in lab-wide implementation.
Position Specific Responsibilities Apply basic and some advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization.
Conduct various test or assemblies that may require minor modifications in setups or procedures.
All modifications must be documented, reviewed and analyzed to ensure data integrity.
Use judgment within defined practices and procedures in measurement, selection, preparation, and operation of standard test equipment and record test data.
Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek advice to clarify information.
Work under direct supervision with advice from engineers, but may select from a variety of established procedures to accomplish tasks.
Inspect assembly work of others and assist with troubleshooting and correction.
Setup digital data acquisition equipment.
Compute and combine data and report findings to supervisor.
Resolve routine questions and problems, and refer more complex issues to higher levels.
Work with small electronic component utilizing microscope or magnifying devices Performs procurement activities Participate in systems integration, fabrication and modification tasks.
Provide support and assistance with systems pre-test setup, integration, checkout, and post- test tear-down.
Setup digital data acquisition equipment.
Compute and combine data and report findings to supervisor.
Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications U.
S.
Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance HS plus 6 years of experience in electronics, hydraulics and/or applicable military experience or vocational education, or Associate Degree in electronics, engineering, RF, electrical field, or a related discipline with 4 years of applicable experience General knowledge of electronics, computers, instrumentation, and plumbing Mechanical aptitude Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and WordPreferred Qualifications Associate Degree in electronics, engineering, electrical or a related discipline Experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulics, welding or vocational education.
Strong electronics background Strong math skills Data collection experienceCertifications, Licenses & RegistrationsMust be trained and certified in a Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies program.

Physical DemandsIn performing the work for this position, the Technician must be able to:
Work utilizing test equipment or computer hardware for extended periods of time.
Climb ladders and stairs in performing the work.
Grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation).
Reach for objects above the head or below the waist.
Stoop or crouch by bending at the waist or by bending legs.
Distinguish colors effectively.
Occasionally lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
TravelUp to 10%; occasional overnight travel via US commercial airline may be required.
