Responsible for all aspects of insurance claims and payments.
Handle insurance and billing inquiries, both on the telephone and at check-out.
Monitor outstanding and overdue accounts including payment arrangements, referring to collections when appropriate.
Responsible for obtaining and documenting patient referrals to specialty physicians as required by physicians and insurance providers.
Responsibilities Collect co-pays and balances and apply to account at check-out window, while editing electronic encounters.
Responsible for balancing deposit list and daily journal created at check-out, to be turned over to supervisor for posting.
Apply insurance payments and adjustments, including follow-up on any unresolved claims.
Apply patient payments received in mail, by telephone or website.
Assist patients with account inquiries, both at check-out and by phone.
Answer business office phones and assist with billing, referral and insurance companies.
Keep Business Office telephone calls current.
Forward patient medical records to specialty physicians or insurance providers when required after obtaining required authorization.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Three years experience in work related to the specific requirements of the position.
Medical office experience preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries Location:
Children's of Alabama Vestavia Pediatrics Schedule:
Full-time, Day shift, 8:
00am-5:
00pm.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
