2K a year Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Lab Tech.
All supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol.
To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol.
To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol.
May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
Responds to the unique needs of all patients.
Key Duties, Primary Responsibilities To perform all duties related to the preparation, distribution, cataloging, and storage of lab specimens for testing To adhere to departmental specimen identification policies and quality controls To utilize lab and hospital information systems and provide general administrative support to the laboratory staff in support of laboratory operations, such as filing, record maintenance, responding to client calls, and mail delivery Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
Must be able to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality Ability to multi-task Must be self-directed/self-motivated Must have good communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure Must be able to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work Hourly Pay Range - $14 - $22.
75 Qualifications Associate's degree in Biological Science or health-related field required Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience Depending on the unit/department or if the position works directly with patients, Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required or required to be obtained within 30 days of employment Primary Location:
