Job Skills / Requirements IPSC is hiring Federal Level II, Protective Security Officers (PSOs) to provide security services at federally-owned properties in and around the Birmingham area.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of armed security or law enforcement experience; or a minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.
S.
Armed Forces component.
In addition, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Be able to pass a drug screening and extensive pre-employment physical exam
High school diploma or equivalent.

Have good hygiene and be well groomed.

Have unexpired driver's license/ID and social security card, or be able to provide acceptable forms of ID for I-9 purposes.

Have a positive attitude and good work ethic.

If prior military, must provide DD-214.
Physical and Mental Job Requirements:

Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate clearly and quickly in cases of emergency.

A Security Officer must be able to read and interpret written information under a variety of circumstances.

A Security Officer must be able to drive a motor vehicle in the course of his/her duties if required.

A Security Officer must be able to detect and identify sounds relevant to fires, floods, alarm signals, and persons in distress against distracting sound background conditions (e.
g.
, machinery, traffic noise, etc.
)
A Security Officer must be able to:
Walk, Run, Stand, Climb, Sit.

A Security Officer must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
waist high, if required.

A Security Officer must be in good mental health and be able to make decisions instantly on the event of an emergency.

A Security Officer must meet the physical and mental requirements of the state(s) to be licensed by the state to perform Security Guard / Security Officer work.
Must be able to obtain the status of license required for the position, either Armed or Unarmed.

Pay is based on wage rates negotiated by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Pay rates in the Birmingham Area vary from post to post and range from $21.
12 per hour.
In addition to the base pay, PSOs receive $4.
50 per hour for health and welfare (H&W) for the first 40 hours worked in a pay week.
H&W pay is also regulated by the CBA with all of the H&W pay being applied to a combination of health and retirement benefits by the employer.
