Associate Actuary - UL Valuation (Remote)

We are seeking actuarial candidates for an open valuation position on the UL Valuation Team.
The person selected for this role will help drive the overall success of the valuation team and the company's critical financial reporting obligations.
This highly visible role will interact with other departments and individuals within the organization and play a key role interacting with Finance by analyzing key drivers of earnings.
This position is responsible for performing Statutory, GAAP and Tax valuation of universal life using the Polysystems software.
These financial reporting responsibilities take up about 3 weeks each quarter.
The remainder of their time will be playing an essential role in maintaining our valuation and business plan models, often directing and validating model updates/changes.
There is potential for management opportunities depending on level of experience and previous management background.
For actuarial positions within the Actuarial Program, we aim to develop employees both through completion of actuarial examination and through practical experience.
We support employees through the completion of the actuarial examination and credentialing process via competitive paid study time and full coverage of exam expenses (SOA exam fees and exam preparation material).
We also provide well-rounded experience via rotations across job functions and product lines.
Eligibility for certain aspects of the Actuarial Program vary by position and are dependent upon the employee staying within good standing with the Actuarial Program.
Responsibilities:
Performing quarterly valuations and earning variance analysis.
Providing guidance and review for calculation of Stat, Tax, and GAAP reservesPreparing and reviewing SOX controls.
Maintain and improve the valuation and business plan modelsDesign, implement, and analyze impacts of model updates and improvementsImproving processes related to valuationCoordinate with Pricing for reconciliation and implementation of new productsDevelop new reporting / analysis tools as necessaryWork closely with other Valuation and Financial reporting teamsOther job duties as assigned, including ad hoc management reportsInteract with other departments and individuals within the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degreeIdeal candidate will be at least an ASAExperience as an actuary within the insurance industryPrevious valuation experience preferredPrevious staff management experience a plusExcellent spreadsheet and technical skillsAbility to learn new softwareHard workingAnalytical and inquisitiveAbility to work independently or on a teamExcellent communication skillsUniversal Life Insurance experience is preferredExperience using Polysystems software is strongly preferredProtective's targeted salary range for this position is $89,500 to $137,405.
Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience.
The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
