At AMERICAN, the IT Application Architect designs and develops IT applications and custom integration solutions including major enhancements, interfaces, functions, and features.
This role uses a variety of platforms to provide automated system applications to customers.
Providing expertise regarding the integration of applications across the company is a primary focus of this position.
The IT Applications Architect will also determine specifications, plans, designs, developing software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes either individually or in concert with a project team.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuseHas knowledge of state-of-the art programming languages and object-oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing, and debugging programs.
Understands and consistently applies the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies.
Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business.
Minimum QualificationsMust possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR have at least five years of prior full-time work experience in one of the predominant languages used in the Information Technology Department Proof of degree required.
A transcript or diploma would be acceptable.
Must be available for work during off hours, subject to need.
Must be able to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality of the same.
Preferred QualificationsAdvanced training and/or work experience in Computer Science or related Information Technology work.
Extensive knowledge and experience in application architecture principles, methodologies and best practices.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
Experience in designing and implementing enterprise applications.
These applications should be scalable, resilient and high performing.
Keen ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and architectural designs.
Ability to meet schedule and produce quality results.
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and modern API design (REST).
Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration technologies like JD Edwards orchestrator.
Ability to evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools for application development.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Knowledge of software security principles and best practices.
Proven ability of working with web and application servers.
