Outside Property Claim Professional Trainee / Outside Property Experienced Claim Professional
We are currently seeking either an experienced Property Claim Professional or Trainee to join our high performing Property team. The ideal candidate will be located in the Dothan, Alabama area.
Summary
The experienced Property Claim Professional will demonstrate proficiency in first party estimating, investigation, evaluation and negotiation at the most reasonable cost. Satisfy customer needs and ensure file quality.
The Property Trainee will Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims on losses of lesser value and complexity. Complete formal training program for consideration of advancement to claim representative position. Differences in settlement authority would be based on local discretion and product line guidelines.
Provide outstanding customer service.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Handle 1st party Property claims of moderate complexity as assigned.
Complete field inspection of losses including accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer assisted estimates.
Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims.
Access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure including tight spaces such as attic, staircases, entries and crawl spaces
Lift, carry, unfold and set up ladder; climb ladder; transition to and from ladder to area requiring inspection; walk on roof.
Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits.
Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other complex correspondence.
Control damages through proper usage of cost containment tools.
Meet all quality standards and expectations per Best Practices.
Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.
Handle files in compliance with state regulations, where applicable.
Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers.
Identify and refer claims with MCU exposure to the supervisor.
Recognize when to refer claims to Special Investigations Unit and/or Subro Unit.
Perform administrative functions such as expense accounts, time off reporting, etc. as required
Perform any other duties as required.
Catastrophe Duty, including travel to other offices and states will be required as necessary.
Trainees will be required to travel out of state to our training facility in Connecticut for three2 week periods of time during the first 3 months of employment.
Education / Work Experience
College degree or equivalent business experience preferred. Solid keyboard and PC skills, with experience in Word and Excel.
Experienced candidates must have previous Property claim handling experience.
Knowledge of construction, estimating and estimating system (Xactimate preferred)
Valid driver''s license. Must display solid verbal and written communications skills. Hardware and software skills and abilities including computers and other similar electronic devices.
Proficient use of technology; including, Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.

Trend Analysis For Property Positions only:
This position requires the individual to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure which is physically demanding requiring the ability to carry, set up and climb a ladder weighing approximately 38 to 49 pounds with a safety weight rating of up to 300 pounds (safety weight rating is the amount of weight the ladder can safely carry and includes weight of the individual and up to16 pounds of standard equipment), walk on roofs, and enter tight spaces (such as attic staircases and entries, crawl spaces, etc.). While specific territory or day-to-day responsibilities may not require an individual to climb a ladder, the incumbent must be capable of safely climbing a ladder when deploying to a catastrophe which is a requirement of the position.
