WattStopper is looking for a highly motivated, self-disciplined Technical Writer/Illustrator to join our Team at our Birmingham, AL location. The Technical Writer/Illustrator will be responsible for writing and illustrating a variety of product documentation materials, including installation instructions, quick start guides and other materials for documentation for a wide range of uses.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a Technical discipline or related or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 6-8 years experience in technical writing or related field. Experience with networked products preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field of technical writing
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite 5 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), familiarity with SolidWorks, CAD, Revit desirable.
Must be a highly motivated and be able to work independently as well as within a variety of teams.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Must be able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence.

Main Job Duties:
1. Works with engineering, product management and marketing team members to understand product functionality and define key operational characteristics to develop corresponding instructional materials
2. Develop technical product illustrations, including installation drawings, wiring diagrams, exploded product views, etc. for use in product documentation, cut sheets, launch manuals, and other identified literature. Responsible for document layout and production.
3. Develop product documentation materials, including installation instructions, quick start guides, cut sheets for the various lighting control products and product families.
4. Assist in the transfer of designs into document control and to production
5. Performs other similar and related duties as required.
