Human Resource Supervisor - Birmingham, AL - Fortune 200, non-union steel manufacturer. The HR Supervisor will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR including, but not limited to, legal/compliance with all local, state, and federal labor laws, policy administration, payroll/benefit administration, training and HR systems support. Reporting to the Plant Controller, the HR Supervisor will promote safety, ensure consistency, develop best practices for the area, develop team members, and serve as a resource for the mill in terms of policy administration. BA degree required.
Responsibilities for the Human Resource Generalist
Oversee Corporate HR reporting requirements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
The HR Supervisor is responsible for setting expectations, motivation and the leadership of the HR Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR including, but not limited to, legal/compliance with all local, state, and federal labor laws, policy administration, payroll/benefit administration, training and HR systems support.
Lead role in administration of employment related processes, including hiring procedures, candidate recruitment; new hire orientation, and maintaining all required documents.
Lead role in the development, implementation, communication, and interpretation of personnel policies, sick leave, disability, FMLA and unemployment related programs.
Requirements for the Human Resource Generalist
4 year degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
Strong proficiency in the use of HR related systems, spreadsheets and word processing applications
Knowledge of employment and benefits law and common HR practices
Leadership experience
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Ability to build rapport at all levels of the organization
Outstanding communication skills
Demonstrated high professional standards regarding customer service and handling confidential and sensitive information
Training experience and demonstrated presentation experience
Adaptability, a proven ability to successfully handle multiple, broad, complex, and time sensitive tasks and issues consistently
Demonstrated history of proactively taking initiative, seeking responsibility, and maintaining and projecting and optimistic view consistently

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
