Electrical Project Manager

Privately owned electrical contractor located in Jackson, MS. is now interviewing for a Project Manager for the Jackson, MS. area. This position will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters either personally or through subordinate supervisors. Specific job duties are listed below:
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
Read and understand the contract and all contract documents
Make list of all documentation required at the beginning of the project, including when it should be submitted.
Request construction drawings and schedule.
Mark up construction drawings and specifications per estimate and set up files for supervisor.
Hold a pre-job meeting with estimator, supervisor, accounting and purchasing. Make a construction estimate.
Set up budget (schedule of values) per the construction estimate. Establish pay rates, per diem, expenses, etc., within the budget
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
Write material requisitions for the original buy out (all quotes and at least 80% of conduit, fittings and small wire).
Request submittals and shop drawings from vendors and check shop drawings for value engineering.
Request insurance certificates from all contractors you issue a purchase order or a subcontract to.
Requisition tools and equipment for the project. Get required permits
Set up billing format and get approved by Vice President of Operations before submitting to the client.
Recognize and document changes in scope, accelerated schedule, delayed completion, changes in work sequence and change in starting or completion dates. Then, be able to get approved method of compensation before the changed scope has commenced.
Complete monthly pay request; make sure all costs are billed.
Follow up with accounting to verify progress payments are be made in accordance with the contract.
Make weekly job site visits to inspect the project, storage facilities, office trailer, schedule, work in progress and discuss manpower requirements with the supervisor.
Verify all tasks follow company's safety policy, identify work place safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
Assist field supervisor in preparing short look ahead schedules for efficiency. Provide supervision and on the job training to lower level supervision.
Prepare and submit all closeout documents per contract specifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
