Associate Director Of First Year programs

The Associate Director for First Year Experience Programs (FYEP) and Students in Transition is responsible for coordinating campus-wide student success initiatives focused on the student success and persistence towards degree completion. Under minimal direction, this position is responsible for creating initiatives and managing the UAB First Year Experience and Transitions Programs to ensure new freshman and new transfer students are provided a quality, comprehensive first year experience, which promotes student learning, persistence and academic success.
The Associate Director is responsible for creating and facilitating student awareness of available support and resources and programs as well as enhancing current practices within the Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center (VMASC). The position will provide vision, strategic direction, and accountability for developing transition programs and services that support undergraduates' transition and success in collaboration with other campus units. Responsibilities include the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic plans for improving undergraduates retention and time-to-degree that is informed by best practices. Additionally, this position will contribute to academic focused support services designed to enhance students' academic progress within their curricular courses including yet not limited to tutoring services and supplemental instruction practices. This position will promote retention and student success for First Year and Transfer students. The Associate Director will report to the Director of Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive first year experience program for all students in transition to increase measure of persistence, retention and ultimately graduation rates.
Manage outreach and interventions for first-year students and follow up on early warnings and academic status changes.
Works collaboratively with both instructional and student service offices to align the FYE program for student success.
Works collaboratively with institutional effectiveness and analysis to prepare FYE program data, reports, and narratives for effective evaluation and on-going development of the FYE Program.
Participates actively in on-going professional development, including state and national dialogues, to ensure that the latest research and best practices related to student success are effectively incorporated in the FYE and SIT Program.
Provide overall administration, leadership and supervision for all transition programming for new students. Conduct research and gather data in support of program refinement and augmentation.
Contribute to the student-centered academic environment of the VMASC as a team member supporting all activities of the Center.
Develop, implement and assess a professional development program, in collaboration with UAB's Center for Teaching and Learning to support faculty and staff teaching courses within the FYE program.
ANNUAL RATE OF PAY: Up to $47,500.00
Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Business or Public Administration, or closely related field and three (3) years of experience required. Related experience to include higher education and counseling preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
