Who We Are:
WBHM 90.3 FM is a listener-supported service of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and also can be heard in North Central Alabama on WSGN 91.5 FM through a partnership with Gadsden State Community College and on 104.7 FM in Fort Payne. More than half of the station's financial support comes from listeners, with additional support from corporate underwriting and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). WBHM, "Your NPR News Station," is also home to the Alabama Radio Reading Service, a resource for the blind and print-impaired.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position directs operations of UAB's public radio station 'WBHM_FM and Radio Reading Service. Initiates planning, develops budgets, goals and policies; evaluates program services and recommends enhancements to management.
1. Directs routine broadcast, fund raising and promotional activities; oversees programming schedules. Reviews and evaluates station services; makes recommendations for improvements and takes corrective actions.
2. Develops, secures approval of, implements and administers departmental goals, objectives and budgets. Monitors financial statements; projects trends and makes recommendations to improve financial status; oversees administration of station revenues, donations and grants.
3. Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates the performance of personnel.
4. Ensures station policies and activities are in compliance with University and appropriate governmental agencies.
5. Attends various committee/department meetings and other related conferences.
6. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate publications and attending related conferen?es and seminars.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree inBroadcasting, Journalism or related field, and seven years' experience inbroadcast management, (programming, development, operations or engineering),preferably in public broadcasting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
