Food Service Worker WG-7408-4 Full Time Permanent

Distributes and collects selective menus insuring that selections are accurate for prescribed diets. Menus are arranged for proper order of tray service to facilities efficient and accurate tray delivery. Completes all diet changes for patients, making adjustments as needed on basic diets, such as regular, bland, soft, sodium restricted, diabetic, liquid, or similar diets, which are routinely ordered. Provides a daily patient census to be used in the production areas and administrative reports. Provides nurses, ward clerks, etc with basic information on diets, supplements, tubefeedings. Makes final check of diet trays in delivery carts to insure patient receives the correct diet or that NPO orders have the trays pulled. Makes final check of diet trays for accuracy, completeness and attractiveness. Verifies that food items served are appropriate for the prescribed diet. Provides a wide variety of food service, cleaning, and sanitation duties. Pans/portions items from the food bank, sets up food cart for both same day and next day meal service. Stocks Centralized Cold Tray Line with items from the food bank and replenishes tray line as needed. Notifies Cooks of missing food items or insufficient amounts of food items in the food bank. Utilizes ADP software, email, Faxed and telephone communications from nurses, physicians, dietitians, dietetic technicians and clerical personnel regarding patient's diet order(s) and /or changes, bed changes, new admissions, cancellations, requests for late and early meals, nourishment requests, preferences, standing orders and discharges. May be assigned to serve on Centralized Tray Line. Relieves for the Food Service Supervisors. Must practice personal cleanliness and good hygiene at all times. May be assigned to work on early, late or relief shift. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

Experience:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The incumbent performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. May be required to work on ladders and use power-cleaning equipment. The work is performed in the kitchen area where steam and heat from cooking and dish washing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Incumbent is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration and freezing units
