You are looking at a are piece of history! This Compaq LTE 286 was the first laptop computer that was roughly the size of a notebook... giving it the nickname "Notebook PC" So this model is the worlds first Notebook PC! The Compaq LTE 286 was released in 1989. It had the Intel 80C286 processor which boasted speeds of 12 MHz! Not GHz but MHz! It's amazing how far we have come since then! It also featured 640 KB of RAM with an additional 1-4 MB using proprietary memory cards. The hard drive was 40MB of storage The screen was not color. This was the last year that they featured grayscale screens (4 shades) ... In 1990 they would release the LTE 386 which featured a color screen with VGA There is much more information about this Compaq LTE 286 online. This is no doubt a must have for any laptop or computer collector. This "notebook" PC has been very well kept. It belonged to my father. The power cord was lost about 3 years ago. I do remember when we had the power cord, this laptop would power on and start up perfectly. I can't be 100% sure that it still does, but my guess is that it works perfectly.
