I am the short term owner of this ALL original classic XLH Liberty Edition Sportster, the tires, tubes, paint, Liberty Editon decals and owners manual are all original to the bike.
1986 was the first year for the 1100cc Evolution sportster, the 1100cc Sportster was only made for 2 years before going to 1200cc in 1988.
This bike has been garaged kept since it was new and its in immaculate condition.
The bike has less than 1500 miles on it which is indicative to its appearance.
In 1986 the HD Motor Company only produced 935 of the Liberty Edition Sportsters to commemorate the reconstruction of the Statue of Liberty.
The Motor Company was donating $100 for every Liberty Edition motorcyle sold in 1986.
Its not numbered bike like the 1991 Sturgis or 1992 Daytona but it is branded as the Liberty Edition and research indicates that only 935 XLHs were produced.
Everything works as it should, the lights, guages, horn and turn signals, the wheel rims are rust free and the chrome is perfect.
It has recently been tuned with new spark plugs, lubrication and chain adjustment.
This is a real time capsule and my guess is there aren't too many of these around in this conditon.
Its priced to sell and well below NADA, it would make a great addition for a collector or someone who desires an antique motorcyle with very low miles.
